We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Gateshead from September 2026. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' academic progress, confidence, and wellbeing while working alongside experienced teaching staff in a positive and inclusive learning environment.

The Role

  • Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.
  • Support students with varying learning needs to achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of behaviour and pupil engagement.
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience within a school setting.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in any subject (Education-related degrees are advantageous but not essential).
  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, proactive, and professional approach.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
