Key Responsibilities
- Opening and securing the school premises, including routine locking and unlocking duties.
- Carrying out regular health and safety checks across the site.
- Undertaking general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks.
- Ensuring the school grounds, playgrounds, and pathways are safe, tidy, and well-maintained.
- Monitoring and reporting maintenance issues requiring specialist attention.
- Managing heating, lighting, and other building systems efficiently.
- Assisting with room setup for school events, meetings, and activities.
- Coordinating with contractors and service providers when required.
- Supporting emergency procedures and responding to site-related issues.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and school policies.
About You
The successful candidate will
- Have previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management role (desirable).
- Possess practical DIY and basic maintenance skills.
- Be able to work independently and use their initiative.
- Have a good understanding of health and safety practices.
- Demonstrate excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Be dependable, trustworthy, and flexible.
- Take pride in maintaining high standards across the school site.
