Teaching Personnel are working closely with several nurturing and supportive primary schools across the Morecambe area who are looking to welcome enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to their teams. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about helping younger pupils with additional needs to flourish both academically and emotionally.

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language needs, and developmental delays.
  • Support learning through play-based activities, structured routines, and personalised interventions.
  • Help pupils develop early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation in a calm, nurturing manner.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, and wider support staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate and consistent support.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and creating inclusive learning environments.

You should:

  • Have experience supporting young children, ideally with SEND (school-based or transferrable experience welcomed).
  • Be warm, patient, and able to build trusting relationships with younger learners.
  • Be able to adapt quickly to the needs of individual pupils and follow tailored support plans.
  • Have strong communication skills and a positive, proactive approach.
  • Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS on the update service.
