We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (Specialising in Maths) to join the SEND and Inclusion team at a welcoming secondary school in Milton Keynes. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about mathematics and committed to helping young people build the confidence and numeracy skills they need to succeed both in education and beyond.

Working closely with students who have a range of additional learning needs, you will deliver targeted maths interventions to individuals, pairs and small groups, helping them to make meaningful progress in their mathematical understanding and application. Full support and professional development will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for experienced teaching assistants or education professionals looking to further develop their specialist skills in SEND and maths intervention.

Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Term time plus training days (39 weeks per year)

Monday to Thursday: 8:15am - 4:15pm
Friday: 8:15am - 3:45pm

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students' mathematical needs and plan effective intervention programmes.
  • Deliver engaging, targeted maths support to individuals, pairs and small groups.
  • Monitor, evaluate and record student progress, adapting interventions where required.
  • Support students with a range of learning needs, including dyscalculia and difficulties with number, calculation and measurement.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support.
  • Deliver after-school maths intervention sessions where required.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment that enables every student to achieve their potential.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school or educational setting.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for mathematics and supporting students to develop confidence in numeracy.
  • Strong mathematical subject knowledge and creative approaches to developing students' understanding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships quickly.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
  • A patient, adaptable and encouraging approach to supporting learners with a range of additional needs.
