We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school team from June 2026 through to July 2027. This full-time role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 7 pupil with Autism (ASC), ADHD and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). You will play a vital role in helping the pupil access learning, regulate emotions, develop confidence and build important life skills.
The Role:
- Providing 1:1 classroom and emotional support throughout the school day
- Supporting engagement, focus and participation in lessons
- Helping the pupil manage emotions, routines and transitions positively
- Encouraging independence, communication and social development
- Assisting with school work and adapting support where needed
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams
- Creating a positive, consistent and encouraging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate:
- Psychology graduates or candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
- Personal or professional experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties is highly valued
- Calm, patient, caring and emotionally resilient
- Able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations
- Passionate about supporting children and young people
