About the Role

Our client, a well‑established and supportive SEN school in Lancaster, is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Maths Teacher to join their team. The school caters for children and young people with a range of special educational needs, including autism, SEMH, and moderate to severe learning difficulties. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about delivering accessible, engaging maths lessons within a nurturing, student‑centred environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality, differentiated maths lessons that reflect the needs of learners with diverse SEN profiles.
  • Establish a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Track and assess progress using SEN‑appropriate frameworks and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, reports, and individualised learning plans.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and communicate effectively with families where required.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential.
  • Experience working in an SEN school or specialist provision is highly desirable; strong mainstream teachers with a passion for SEN are also welcome to apply.
  • A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach to teaching.
  • Ability to adapt lessons creatively to suit different learning styles, communication needs, and levels of ability.
  • Strong behaviour management using supportive, trauma‑informed strategies.
