We are currently looking for dedicated Maths specialists to provide 1:1 tuition to looked-after children across Gateshead who are currently not attending school. These are young people who need more than just a subject expert - they need a steady, encouraging presence to help them rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.
You will be supporting students in care who, for various reasons, are not in mainstream education. Your role is more than teaching Maths - it is about providing stability, connection, and a renewed love for learning.
- £25-£30 per hour - valuing your time, skill, and experience.

Requirements:
- QTS and strong subject knowledge in Maths (up to GCSE).
- A nurturing, patient approach and the ability to build trust with vulnerable learners.
- Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (e.g., SEMH, SEND, or those in care).
- A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Two professional references from within the last 10 years.
- A UK driving licence is desirable, as some tuition may take place in homes or libraries across the Gateshead area.
