At TP-Tutors, we believe teaching should feel purposeful, flexible, and fulfilling. We are currently looking for dedicated Maths specialists to provide 1:1 tuition to looked-after children across Gateshead who are currently not attending school. These are young people who need more than just a subject expert - they need a steady, encouraging presence to help them rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.

You will be supporting students in care who, for various reasons, are not in mainstream education. Your role is more than teaching Maths - it is about providing stability, connection, and a renewed love for learning.

  • Β£25-Β£30 per hour - valuing your time, skill, and experience.
  • Flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle and availability.
  • Work that is 1:1 or in very small groups, allowing for a more focused, tailored approach.
  • Full support from a dedicated consultant and access to ongoing CPD (including safeguarding, SEND, and trauma-informed practice).
  • The chance to make a measurable difference in a young person's life - every single day.

Requirements:

  • QTS and strong subject knowledge in Maths (up to GCSE).
  • A nurturing, patient approach and the ability to build trust with vulnerable learners.
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (e.g., SEMH, SEND, or those in care).
  • A current Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Two professional references from within the last 10 years.
  • A UK driving licence is desirable, as some tuition may take place in homes or libraries across the Gateshead area.
