To deliver high‑quality Geography education that develops students’ understanding of physical and human processes, global interdependence, environmental issues, and place knowledge, while fostering critical thinking and geographical enquiry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and challenging Geography lessons in line with the National Curriculum and GCSE/A‑level specifications.
  • Teach a range of physical, human and environmental geography topics.
  • Develop students’ skills in data analysis, map work, fieldwork and extended written responses.
  • Differentiating teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND, EAL and high‑attaining students.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, effort and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development and review of schemes of work and curriculum resources.
  • Design, mark and moderate assessments in line with school and examination board requirements.
  • Use assessment data to monitor progress, inform planning and implement targeted interventions.
  • Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations.
  • Plan, organise and lead geographical fieldwork in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Contribute to enrichment opportunities such as clubs, competitions, trips or sustainability initiatives.
  • Promote awareness of global issues, climate change and sustainability.
  • Act as a form tutor if required, supporting students’ academic and personal development.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through events, meetings and extracurricular activities.
  • Support the school’s ethos and values.
  • Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
  • Participate in CPD and departmental meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the humanities faculty.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Degree in Geography or a closely related subject.
  • Experience teaching Geography at secondary level (ECTs welcome).
