We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral to join our senior leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an established leader to make a significant impact on the lives of young people by leading on behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Working closely with the Headteacher, you will play a key role in shaping the school's pastoral vision, ensuring that every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential within a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the school's pastoral provision, including behaviour and attendance.
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Support the strategic leadership and continuous improvement of the school.
  • Lead, manage and develop staff through effective performance management and professional development.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement and student outcomes.
  • Analyse and use data to monitor performance and drive school improvement.
  • Support the day-to-day leadership of the school and deputise for the Headteacher when required.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven leadership experience within a school setting.
  • A strong track record of improving behaviour, attendance and pastoral provision.
  • Experience working within an SEN and/or SEMH environment (desirable).
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Outstanding communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and support both staff and pupils to achieve their best.
