A friendly and welcoming primary school in Newton Heath, Manchester is working in partnership with a recruitment agency to appoint a reliable and proactive Caretaker on a long-term supply basis, starting from July. This is a split shift role, working Monday to Friday from 6:00am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 6:00pm, providing essential site support at the start and end of each school day.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean and secure environment for pupils, staff and visitors. Daily responsibilities will include:
- Opening and locking the premises
- Carrying out routine maintenance checks
- Ensuring the building and grounds are well presented
- Managing basic repairs
- Supporting health and safety procedures across the site
You will also liaise with school staff and external contractors where required, respond to any site issues during the day, and ensure the school is fully prepared for daily activities and events.
This position would suit someone practical, dependable and able to work independently, with a good understanding of site management within a school or similar setting. Previous caretaking, maintenance or facilities experience is highly desirable, along with a strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high standards.
