Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Primary SEMH Teacher to work within a supportive specialist setting in the Manchester city centre area. This role involves working with pupils who present a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety, attachment difficulties, behavioural challenges, low self-esteem, trauma‑related responses, and difficulties with emotional regulation. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment focused on building trust, confidence, and positive relationships.
The Role
- You will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to small class groups, helping pupils re‑engage with learning and develop key life skills.
- You will play a crucial role in creating a safe and supportive space that promotes both academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons in line with the primary curriculum.
- Support pupils in managing behaviour, emotions, and social interactions.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support engagement.
- Implement individual support strategies and behaviour plans.
- Work closely with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback on pupil development.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages growth and resilience.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Proven experience working with SEMH pupils or challenging behaviour.
- Strong classroom management and de‑escalation skills.
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
