About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Tutor to provide tailored educational support to learners in the M8 area of Manchester. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised 1:1 tuition during weekday school hours, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve their academic goals. This role requires a tutor who can communicate effectively with the learner, and therefore fluency in Arabic and proficiency in Sign Language are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to individual learning needs.
- Support students across core subjects, including English, Maths, and other curriculum areas as required.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet a range of SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
- Use Arabic and Sign Language to support learner communication and engagement.
- Plan and deliver personalised lessons that promote engagement and progress.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
- Build positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and relevant professionals.
- Encourage student confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
- Fluency in Arabic (essential).
- Proficiency in Sign Language (essential).
- Strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
- Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education.
- Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies.
