Male Behaviour Support Worker – 1:1 Support with Challenging Male Pupils

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist provision in Chorley to recruit a Male Behaviour Support Worker to provide 1:1 support for male pupils with challenging behaviour and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is a full-time role to begin in January 2026, offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis following a successful initial period.
Working on a 1:1 basis with male pupils who present with challenging behaviours and SEMH needs.
Providing tailored support in and out of the classroom, ensuring pupils can access learning and manage their emotions positively.
Supporting pupils with strategies to develop resilience, self-regulation, and social skills.
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and external agencies to ensure individual needs are met.
Due to the nature of the role and the needs of the child, there is a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 for this post to be filled by a male support worker.
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or in a care/youth work setting is desirable.
Confidence, resilience, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
A calm, consistent approach with strong behaviour management skills.
Commitment to long-term development in a specialist setting.
Full-time position with the opportunity to become permanent.
