Learning Support Assistant - Year 7 Transition 1:1 Support

Location: Pontypool

Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to provide support for a Year 7 pupil transitioning into secondary school this September. This rewarding role involves working closely with a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them navigate the transition from primary to secondary education while supporting their academic, social and emotional development. You will play a key role in building confidence, promoting independence and ensuring the pupil feels safe, supported and able to thrive in their new school environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Supporting a Year 7 pupil with additional learning needs as they transition into secondary education.
  • Working closely with teachers, the ALNCo and pastoral teams to implement personalised support strategies.
  • Helping the pupil access learning and engage positively in lessons.
  • Encouraging social interaction, confidence and independence.
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and helping to manage any challenges associated with transition.
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship to help the pupil achieve their full potential.
