Routes Into Teaching

Teaching Personnel works closely with schools and training providers across Wigan and Warrington that offer recognised pathways into teaching, including:

  • School-based teacher training programmes.
  • Primary and Secondary teacher training routes.
  • Salaried and unsalaried training opportunities.
  • Graduate teacher development pathways.
  • Mentored progression into Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and PGCE programmes.

Many of our partner schools actively look to identify and develop talented graduates into future teaching professionals. This route provides a structured and sustainable progression into teaching, allowing you to gain practical classroom experience whilst building relationships within a school setting.

Schools are increasingly investing in this approach as it enables them to develop future teachers who already understand their culture, expectations, and pupils. As a result, many Trainee Teachers go on to secure teacher training placements within their school, progress into permanent positions following qualification, and later complete their Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction within a familiar and supportive environment.
