Pay: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience)

Teaching Personnel is supporting a number of well-regarded secondary, SEN, SEMH, and Alternative Provision schools across Liverpool with their September staffing requirements. We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistants to join schools across the city on long‑term, full‑time placements for the new academic year. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students engage with their education, supporting both academic achievement and personal development. You'll work with pupils who may face additional challenges in the classroom, including SEMH needs, autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and behavioural barriers to learning. These positions offer the opportunity to become a valued member of a school community, working closely with experienced teachers and support staff to ensure every young person has the tools and encouragement needed to succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small‑group support interventions
  • Support students with a range of SEN, SEMH, and additional learning needs
  • Encourage positive learning behaviours and classroom engagement
  • Assist in implementing individual support plans and behaviour strategies
  • Foster pupil resilience, confidence, and independence
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to ongoing assessments
  • Support students with social, emotional, and pastoral needs
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and promote student welfare at all times
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture

About You

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about helping young people reach their full potential. You will have a calm, empathetic nature and be confident supporting students who may require additional encouragement and guidance throughout the school day. Whether your background is in education, youth work, mentoring, support work, residential care, or community‑based roles, you'll be able to build strong relationships and positively influence student outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience working with children or young people in a professional setting
  • Previous experience within a UK secondary school or educational environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to remain patient, resilient, and adaptable
  • Confidence supporting students with a range of additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent)
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
  • Mentoring, youth work, or intervention‑based experience
  • Team Teach, MAPA, or behaviour management training
  • Up-to-date safeguarding knowledge
