About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint an outstanding, motivated, and compassionate Headteacher to lead a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Alternative Provision in the Liverpool area. This provision supports a maximum of 45 students, offering a highly personalised and nurturing educational experience for young people who require additional support outside of mainstream settings. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced senior leader or an ambitious individual ready to step into Headship to make a significant and lasting impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward the strategic vision of the provision, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Provide clear, inspirational leadership and direction for the provision
- Develop and implement a strategic plan focused on improving outcomes for students with SEMH needs
- Lead on school improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous evaluation and development
- Quality of Education
- Ensure the delivery of a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum tailored to meet individual needs
- Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning, promoting high standards across the provision
- Use data effectively to track student progress and drive improvement strategies
- Safeguarding & Wellbeing
- Promote a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring all policies and procedures are fully implemented
- Prioritise the wellbeing, safety, and personal development of all students
- Lead on behaviour strategies, creating a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Staff Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary staff team
- Foster a positive and collaborative working culture
- Oversee staff performance management, training, and professional development
- Operational & Financial Management
- Manage the day-to-day running of the provision effectively and efficiently
- Oversee budgets and resources to ensure value for money and sustainability
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements
- Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies
- Act as the key point of contact for all stakeholders
- Represent the provision within the wider community and education network
Candidate Requirements
