About the Role

Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint an outstanding, motivated, and compassionate Headteacher to lead a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Alternative Provision in the Liverpool area. This provision supports a maximum of 45 students, offering a highly personalised and nurturing educational experience for young people who require additional support outside of mainstream settings. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced senior leader or an ambitious individual ready to step into Headship to make a significant and lasting impact. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward the strategic vision of the provision, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for both students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision
    • Provide clear, inspirational leadership and direction for the provision
    • Develop and implement a strategic plan focused on improving outcomes for students with SEMH needs
    • Lead on school improvement initiatives, ensuring continuous evaluation and development
  • Quality of Education
    • Ensure the delivery of a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum tailored to meet individual needs
    • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning, promoting high standards across the provision
    • Use data effectively to track student progress and drive improvement strategies
  • Safeguarding & Wellbeing
    • Promote a strong safeguarding culture, ensuring all policies and procedures are fully implemented
    • Prioritise the wellbeing, safety, and personal development of all students
    • Lead on behaviour strategies, creating a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Staff Leadership & Development
    • Lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary staff team
    • Foster a positive and collaborative working culture
    • Oversee staff performance management, training, and professional development
  • Operational & Financial Management
    • Manage the day-to-day running of the provision effectively and efficiently
    • Oversee budgets and resources to ensure value for money and sustainability
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, local authorities, and external agencies
    • Act as the key point of contact for all stakeholders
    • Represent the provision within the wider community and education network

Candidate Requirements
