Location: Leigh, Greater Manchester
Working Pattern: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday
Hours: 9:00am – 11:00am

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Tutor to support students within a specialist intervention provision in Leigh. This role is ideal for a confident educator who is passionate about engaging learners who require additional support to access education.
About the Provision
You will be working within a supportive, small-scale intervention setting designed for students aged 14–16 (KS4) who are currently unable to attend mainstream school. The provision supports pupils with a range of needs, including:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Anxiety and school-based avoidance
- Behavioural challenges
- Gaps in learning due to disrupted education
The environment is structured, nurturing, and focused on re-engaging students with core academic subjects and rebuilding confidence.
The Role
As a 1:1 Tutor, you will deliver GCSE Maths and English sessions tailored to individual learning needs. You will play a key role in supporting academic progress while also fostering engagement and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in GCSE Maths and English
- Provide one-to-one support tailored to each student’s ability and needs
- Identify learning gaps and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage participation
- Monitor and record progress against academic and personal targets
- Support students in developing confidence and independent learning skills
- Work collaboratively with the wider staff team to ensure consistent support
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (Desirable but not essential)
- Strong experience tutoring GCSE Maths and English
- Experience working with KS4 students, particularly those with SEMH or additional needs
- Excellent behaviour management and engagement strategies
- Ability to differentiate learning effectively on a 1:1 basis
- Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
