A welcoming and well-established SEN secondary school in Leatherhead is seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Nurture Teacher to join their supportive team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who is committed to helping young people with additional needs achieve their full potential in a nurturing, structured, and supportive environment.
Monday to Friday | 8:15am – 4:45pm
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across a range of subjects to secondary-aged students
- Create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that promotes both academic progress and personal development
- Support students with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including those who may display challenging behaviours
- Develop positive relationships with students to encourage engagement, confidence, and independence
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral staff, and senior leaders to support student outcomes
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, adapting teaching strategies where required
- Promote positive behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Previous experience working within an SEN setting is essential
- Experience teaching primary or secondary-aged students
- Confident delivering a range of curriculum subjects, including English and Maths
- Strong understanding of SEND and effective strategies to support learners with additional needs
- Experience supporting students with challenging behaviour and social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach to teaching and behaviour management
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people
