We are supporting a specialist education setting in Northumberland in their search for a caring, proactive and skilled Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with a range of SEND needs.
- Assist in delivering differentiated and accessible teaching across the curriculum.
- Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing using trauma-informed practice, nurture and restorative approaches.
- Implement personalised interventions such as literacy and numeracy programmes, SEMH mentoring, and therapeutic strategies.
- Follow EHCP outcomes, SEND Support Plans and Behaviour/Regulation Plans consistently.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers and external professionals to ensure coordinated support.
- Encourage pupil voice and independence through positive relationships and tailored strategies.
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Hold an Enhanced Child DBS (Preferred).
- Have experience supporting pupils with SEND (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, trauma).
- Be patient, calm, resilient and able to build positive, trusting relationships.
- Understand or be willing to learn trauma-informed and nurture-based approaches.
- Be confident adapting tasks, materials and expectations to meet individual needs.
- Work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
