Teaching Personnel are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lancaster to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing school environment.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), supporting their learning, development, and emotional wellbeing. You may be working 1:1 or in small groups, helping pupils to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs)
- Assist the class teacher with inclusive lesson delivery
- Support behaviour management and positive learning strategies
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
- Promote a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with SEND (school-based or transferable experience considered)
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for inclusive education
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
