Teaching Personnel are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in the L32 area, who are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is a long-term opportunity, supporting pupils with additional needs either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups (1:2 support). The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, regulate behaviour and thrive within a structured and nurturing classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Support children with a range of needs including:
    • Autism (ASC)
    • ADHD
    • Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
    • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)
    • Challenging behaviour
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Implement EHCP targets and personalised support strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Encourage independence, engagement and confidence in pupils
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has previous experience supporting children with SEND (essential)
  • Has worked with pupils with Autism, ADHD, SLCN, SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Holds a Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant education-based qualification (desirable)
  • Has experience working 1:1 or with small intervention groups
  • Demonstrates strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Is patient, resilient and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Works well as part of a team and uses their own initiative
