Bracken Hill School is a specialist school committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team and help our pupils achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students with a range of additional learning, communication, and behavioural needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and build confidence in a safe and positive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
• Help pupils achieve their individual learning and EHCP targets.
• Promote positive behaviour and support students' social, emotional, and personal development.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Support students with varying communication, sensory, and learning needs.
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to remain calm and positive when supporting pupils with challenging behaviours.
• A commitment to inclusion and supporting every child to succeed.
• An Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
