What you'll be doing:

  • Providing consistent, high-quality 1:1 and small group support to pupils with autism spectrum conditions (ASC), tailoring your approach to each pupil's individual needs, communication style and learning profile.
  • Implementing support strategies in line with individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), tracking progress and contributing to regular reviews.
  • Supporting communication through approaches such as Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and other augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) methods.
  • Creating and maintaining calm, structured and predictable environments that help pupils manage anxiety and feel safe enough to learn and grow.
  • Supporting sensory regulation, transitions and changes in routine with patience, creativity and professional skill.
  • Working as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team alongside specialist teachers, speech and language therapists and occupational therapists.
  • Maintaining accurate records and upholding safeguarding and confidentiality procedures at all times.
