Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a qualified teacher, with SEN experience/ specialism. We are working alongside one of our partner schools, a specialist school in Derby (DE3) seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join their supportive team, working with pupils who have a wide range of additional needs. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and typically work at least three years below age-related expectations compared to their mainstream peers.

The curriculum is carefully adapted to reflect this and to meet pupils’ individual needs effectively. Most pupils follow a primary-model curriculum, regardless of age, ensuring learning is accessible, structured and appropriately pitched. The school offers adapted learning pathways to ensure all learners can access suitable accreditation. More able students are given the opportunity to sit Foundation Tier GCSEs in core subjects. Other learners work towards Entry Level Certificates, Functional Skills qualifications and Unit Award certificates, aligned to their individual learning profiles and future aspirations. This tailored approach ensures pupils are well prepared for life beyond the setting, including further education, training or supported pathways.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or an equivalent UK teaching qualification)
  • Have experience working with SEND pupils (mainstream or specialist settings)
  • Be confident in adapting teaching approaches and curriculum content
  • Be patient, resilient and committed to inclusive education
  • Work effectively with support staff, families and external professionals

The school offers:

  • A welcoming and supportive staff team
  • Strong leadership and a clear SEND-focused ethos
  • Ongoing CPD and training opportunities
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference
