Teaching Personnel is recruiting dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a range of secondary schools throughout South Yorkshire. Whether you're looking for flexible supply work or a long-term position, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and development of young people.
As an HLTA, you will work closely with teaching staff to support learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to work in Key Stage 5 settings where applicable. You will deliver targeted interventions, support pupils with a range of learning needs, and confidently lead whole-class learning when required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
- Supporting teaching and learning across a range of secondary subjects.
- Leading small group and one-to-one intervention sessions to raise attainment.
- Supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs where required.
- Working collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams to support student progress and wellbeing.
- Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining high expectations within the classroom.
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A recognised Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification or another relevant Level 4 qualification that enables you to work as an HLTA.
- Previous experience working within a UK secondary school.
- Confidence managing whole-class learning and delivering lessons independently.
- Excellent communication, organisation and classroom management skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A flexible, proactive and professional approach to supporting learning.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service.
