Location: Ystrad Mynach, South Wales

Pay Rate: £14.25 an hour

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Contract: September 2026 Start

About the Role

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a resilient, empathetic, and committed Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for young people aged 3-19 with a range of disabilities and Additional Learning Needs (ALN). This is a hands-on role that requires flexibility, as each day can bring new challenges and changes. You’ll be working across various key stages, supporting pupils who may struggle to engage in a typical classroom environment. Your role will be to help them feel safe, understood, and capable of progress. We’re looking for someone with a calm and patient approach, who can build positive relationships and apply effective de-escalation techniques when needed. The ability to remain composed under pressure is essential in helping pupils feel supported and ready to learn.

Who We’re Looking For?

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours
  • Resilient, patient and understanding attitude
  • Support pupils with mobility and sensory needs where required.
  • Deliver consistent 1:1 and small group support during lessons and daily activities tailored to individual pupil need
  • The ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
  • A commitment to encouraging the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • An Enhanced Child & Adult DBS on the Update Service
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training
  • At least two professional references covering the past two years
