Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students in a specialist school in the Havant area. This is a term-time only role, working school hours Monday to Friday, ideal for those needing a work-life balance without compromising on job satisfaction.
About the Role:
- Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, often on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.
- Helping manage challenging behaviours using trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation strategies.
- Assisting with classroom learning, emotional regulation, and routine-based activities.
- Building trusted relationships to support pupils' confidence, wellbeing, and progress.
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver tailored interventions.

SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) schools provide specialist education for young people who may face difficulties such as anxiety, behavioural challenges, attachment disorders, or trauma-related needs. These settings focus on holistic development, resilience building, and supporting students both academically and emotionally in a safe, structured environment.
Requirements:
- A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach with a resilient nature.
- Experience supporting young people with additional or complex needs.
- Confidence in managing behaviour positively and respectfully.
- Strong resilience.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Enhanced Child workforce DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
