A number of specialist schools across Hampshire are currently seeking caring, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to work as Special Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs). Positions are available in and around Winchester, Andover, Basingstoke, Farnborough, and Hook.
About the Role
Special Needs Teaching Assistants play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. Working closely with teachers and other support staff, SEN TAs help pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop key life skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Types of Schools and Needs
- SEN (Special Educational Needs) Schools: These schools cater for children and young people with a variety of learning needs. Pupils may have:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Physical disabilities
- Moderate to severe learning difficulties
- Communication and interaction difficulties
- Complex medical needs
In SEMH schools, staff focus on building trust, promoting emotional regulation, and supporting social development. The environment is structured but highly flexible, and a calm, consistent, and resilient approach is essential.
