Responsibilities

  • As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll guide students aged 11–16, deliver pre-prepared lessons, and ensure a positive, productive atmosphere in the absence of teaching staff.
  • You’ll help maintain momentum in learning while developing your own skills and understanding of school life—ideal preparation for a future teaching career.
  • Supervising classes and delivering set lesson plans
  • Maintaining a calm, focused, and engaging learning environment
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Supporting students with additional or special educational needs where required
  • Acting as a positive role model and trusted adult for learners

Qualifications

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students (school, youth work, tutoring, mentoring etc.)
  • Confidence working independently in a classroom setting
  • Ability to support students with additional learning needs (SEN experience an advantage)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive rapport
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people and helping them succeed
