Teaching Personnel are working closely with a large, well-established secondary academy in Guisborough to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a 1:1 support placement running from September through to the end of the Spring term. The school is rated Good by Ofsted and has built a strong community where staff and students work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect, with students valued as individuals and encouraged to develop their abilities to the full. The school is coeducational and serves pupils aged 11 to 16, with over 1,300 students on roll. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference to an individual pupil's learning journey in a supportive and inclusive school environment.

The Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to an individual pupil throughout the school day
  • Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support strategies
  • Help the pupil access lessons, manage transitions, and build confidence and independence
  • Adapt approaches to suit the pupil's specific learning and/or additional needs
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation in line with school policies
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of progress and any concerns
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment

Who We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or educational setting
  • A patient, empathetic, and consistent approach
  • An understanding of SEND needs (such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language) is highly desirable
  • Ability to build trusted, professional relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Reliable, professional, and committed for the duration of the placement
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one, as well as satisfactory background checks
