Position Overview
We’re working with a specialist SEN school in Greenford that supports pupils with ASC and PMLD, and they’re looking for a teacher who genuinely understands what that looks like day to day.
This isn’t a “light SEN” setting. Most pupils are pre-verbal, have high sensory needs, and require a calm, consistent and structured approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading a small class of pupils with complex needs
- Delivering sensory-based, highly personalised learning
- Working closely with a strong team of TAs and therapists
- Creating a calm, predictable environment where pupils can engage and feel safe
- Adapting your approach constantly based on each child’s needs
Requirements
- Experience in ASC and/or PMLD settings (this is essential)
- Confidence working with non-verbal learners
- Someone steady, patient and not easily phased
- Strong classroom leadership — you’ll be directing support staff day to day
- A genuine interest in this area of SEN (not just general SEN experience)
Not suitable for ECTs. Best suited to teachers up to M3.
Working Environment
- Well-structured and organised — not a chaotic setting
- Clear expectations around behaviour and engagement
- Staff who understand the pupils and work well as a team
- They value consistency and keep good staff
Benefits
- You’ll be properly supported — not left to figure things out
- Opportunity to build something long-term if it’s the right fit
- A setting where good teachers are recognised quickly
- Chance to work with pupils where your input genuinely makes a difference day to day
If you’ve worked in a similar setting and know this is your area, it’s worth a conversation.
We can talk you through the school in more detail and, where appropriate, arrange an initial visit so you can get a feel for whether it’s right for you.
