The Future Teachers Programme in London offers a unique opportunity to work in a secondary school environment, earn a salary, and develop the skills needed to thrive in the classroom – all before starting formal teacher training.

About the Role

As part of the programme, you will work as a Cover Supervisor in a London secondary school. This is a full-time, term-time role designed to immerse you in school life while helping you build the core skills required to become a successful teacher.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising whole classes during teacher absences using pre-prepared lesson materials
  • Supporting students with their work and encouraging active participation
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment while managing classroom behaviour
  • Reporting on lesson progress and student engagement to teaching staff
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and pastoral teams
  • Assisting with small group interventions or targeted academic support where needed

You will not be expected to plan lessons or mark work. Instead, the focus will be on developing classroom presence, behaviour management, and pupil engagement.
