Teaching Personnel are recruiting passionate and resilient graduates to support a Year 2 pupil with behavioural and additional learning needs (ALN) on a 1:1 basis in a Newport primary school. This role is ideal for those considering careers in:

  • Educational Psychology
  • Teaching / PGCE
  • SEN/ALN support
  • Child therapy, social work or youth services

About the Role

You’ll support a pupil who may experience:

  • Behavioural challenges
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • Trauma-related responses
  • Additional learning needs (ALN)

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 classroom support
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Use trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies
  • Follow behaviour and support plans
  • Encourage engagement with learning and routines
  • Support transitions and maintain a calm environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo
