This Future Teacher Pathway offers a structured and supportive route into the profession, starting with practical classroom experience and leading to full teacher training through the SKiP (School-based Initial Teacher Training) programme. This opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about education who want to build confidence in the classroom before progressing to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). You will gain hands-on experience from day one, supported by experienced educators, before transitioning into a fully funded teacher training programme.
Year 1 Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects in the absence of teaching staff
- Develop strong classroom management skills in line with school policies
- Support learning through classroom assistance, interventions, and departmental tasks
- Build relationships with students and establish confidence leading lessons
- Engage fully in school life and ongoing professional development
- Receive mentoring and preparation for progression onto the SKiP training programme
Year 2 Responsibilities
- Begin formal teacher training in your chosen subject (e.g., Maths, English, Science)
- Teach a reduced timetable while developing your teaching practice
- Benefit from regular mentoring, observations, and constructive feedback
- Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and potentially a PGCE
- Contribute fully to curriculum delivery and the wider school community
Qualifications
- A degree (minimum 2:2) – all subjects considered, with preference for core subjects
