Learning Support Assistant for a September start

Location: Portsmouth

Pay: £14.25 per hour – Term Time Only

Hours: Full Time

Are you considering making a change in the new Academic year? Would you like to work within a Specialist school setting, supporting Primary and Secondary aged pupils with their education? Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within an SEN school supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. Pupils can be quite vulnerable and dysregulated, and this role includes supporting pupils with emotional regulation, relationship building, as well as supporting the class teacher to implement learning plans.

The Role:

  • Work on a one-to-one and small group basis with pupils who have SEN needs, to include Autism, sensory needs, communication needs.
  • Support pupils with managing emotions, behaviour, and developing positive relationships.
  • Assist with adapting learning to meet individual needs, and supporting the implementation of development strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with additional needs.
  • Ability to drive is highly desirable.
  • Must have a clear Child Workforce DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one.
  • Availability between 8:30–15:30.
  • Passion, patience, confidence and high resilience working with young people with SEN.
