We are looking for enthusiastic, empathetic and resilient Psychology Graduate SEN Teaching Assistants to join schools across Godalming. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates looking to gain hands-on experience before pursuing a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Child Psychology, SEN teaching, Speech and Language Therapy or another child-focused profession.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), learning difficulties and communication needs. Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals
- Supporting children's social, emotional and personal development
- Encouraging confidence, independence and positive behaviour
- Helping pupils manage emotions and develop effective coping strategies
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
- Supporting an inclusive, engaging and positive classroom environment
Why Psychology Graduates?

We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A 2:1 or above Psychology degree (or equivalent)
- A genuine passion for working with children and young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy and resilience
- A calm and consistent approach
- The ability to build strong professional relationships
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, but not essential
