Graduate Teaching Assistant

Location: Gateshead Start Date: September 2026 Full-Time £92.63 - £100 per day (depending on experience)

You'll be working closely with teachers and pupils across the school, providing support where it's needed most and helping students to engage with their learning.

The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will

  • Support pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
  • Help pupils stay focused, engaged, and motivated in lessons.
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Support children with a range of learning needs and abilities.
  • Encourage confidence, independence, and participation in learning.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in any subject.
  • An interest in working with children and young people.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and enthusiasm.

Previous experience working with children is beneficial but not essential.

This could include tutoring, coaching, care work, mentoring, youth work, voluntary work, or placement experience.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, although support can be provided with obtaining one if required.
