We are looking for a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive school in Ferryhill. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging and inclusive learning activities.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment where every child can thrive.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (school, care, youth work, or similar settings).
- Is patient, compassionate, and adaptable.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Can remain calm under pressure and respond positively to challenging situations.
- Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Has an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
