About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor / Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Bolton from September 2026. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students in overcoming behavioural barriers to learning and achieving their full potential.
You will play a key role in providing targeted support to pupils who may display challenging behaviour, working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural needs
- Implement behaviour management strategies and individual support plans
- Support students both inside and outside of the classroom
- Help promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young people in a school, PRU, or similar setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, patient approach
- A passion for supporting vulnerable or disengaged learners
- Ability to build rapport quickly and de-escalate challenging situations
- Team player with excellent communication skills
- Relevant qualifications (TA, youth work, or similar) are desirable but not essential
