We are seeking an experienced and student-focused Student Progress, Attendance and Behaviour Lead to join a dedicated pastoral and inclusion team. This role is ideally suited to individuals with teaching experience or substantial school‑based experience who are passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.

You will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance, strengthening student engagement, and supporting positive behaviour across the school community. Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families and external agencies, you will help ensure students are fully supported to succeed both academically and personally.

  • Monitor, track and improve pupil attendance and punctuality
  • Identify attendance trends and barriers to engagement
  • Develop and implement targeted intervention and support plans
  • Work collaboratively with pupils, families and staff to drive sustained improvement
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to attendance reporting processes
  • Promote high standards of behaviour and positive learning habits across the school
  • Support students experiencing behavioural, emotional or engagement challenges
  • Lead and coordinate interventions that improve participation and wellbeing
  • Use restorative and solution‑focused approaches to support students effectively
  • Contribute to maintaining a calm, inclusive and purposeful school environment
  • Support pupils to achieve both academic and personal targets
  • Monitor student progress and identify opportunities for early intervention
  • Liaise with external professionals and agencies where appropriate
  • Contribute to whole‑school strategies focused on inclusion, attendance and achievement

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Teaching experience or significant school‑based experience working directly with pupils in a secondary or specialist education setting
  • Experience supporting student behaviour, attendance, engagement or pastoral development
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, student welfare and inclusive educational practice
  • Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, families and colleagues
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage records and interventions effectively
  • Confidence managing sensitive situations professionally and appropriately
  • Resilience, initiative and a proactive approach
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or previous teaching responsibility
  • Experience within pastoral leadership, behaviour support, inclusion, attendance or student wellbeing roles
  • Experience working with students with additional needs, SEND or SEMH
