Learning Support Assistants – September 2026 Start
Location: Farnborough
Hours: Monday to Friday, term time only
Pay: £14.25 per hour
We are seeking to appoint Learning Support Assistants to join two specialist schools in Farnborough from September 2026. The schools support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN)—such as autism and complex learning and communication needs—and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Both settings offer structured and supportive environments, where staff work collaboratively to promote pupils’ academic, social and emotional development.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning and wellbeing on a day-to-day basis. This is a varied position that requires patience, adaptability and a proactive approach.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support in line with individual learning plans
- Assisting teachers in the delivery and adaptation of lessons to meet diverse needs
- Encouraging pupil engagement and supporting sustained focus
- Promoting the development of communication, social and life skills
- Supporting emotional regulation and implementing positive behaviour strategies
- Assisting with de-escalation where required, in line with agreed approaches
- Contributing to a safe, consistent and inclusive learning environment
- Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams to ensure consistent support
Candidate Profile
We welcome applications from individuals with a broad range of relevant experience and transferable skills. This may include backgrounds in:
- Education or tutoring
- Care or support work
- Youth work or community settings
- Mental health or wellbeing roles
- Customer-facing or people-focused positions
- Coaching, sports or mentoring roles

Previous experience in SEN or SEMH is desirable but not essential. Comprehensive training, guidance and ongoing support will be provided.
