Some students don’t need louder instruction; they need someone who listens, understands, and stays. We’re looking for experienced tutors in Faringdon to work in person with secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These are young people who may have disengaged from education, struggled in mainstream settings, or faced challenges that go far beyond the classroom. Your role won’t just be to teach; it will be to rebuild confidence, create stability, and help students re‑engage with learning at their own pace. This is tutoring with purpose.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering tailored, one-to-one tuition for secondary pupils, including GCSE-level support
- Teaching core subjects such as Maths and English (additional subjects are a bonus)
- Adapting sessions to suit pupils’ emotional needs, not just their academic level
- Creating a calm, structured environment where students feel safe to learn
- Acting as a consistent, positive role model throughout the tuition journey
- Recording attendance, lesson objectives, and clear session summaries after each session
What we’re looking for:
- At least 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience
- Experience working with SEMH pupils or those with additional needs
- Strong subject knowledge in Maths and English
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to build trust over time
- A calm, flexible approach and strong behaviour management skills
- Availability of 10–15 hours per week minimum
Why this role matters:
For many of these pupils, education has been inconsistent. Progress starts with connection and the right tutor can completely change a young person’s outlook. If you’re someone who can stay steady, build trust, and make learning feel possible again, we want to hear from you. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay.
