A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Chorley (PR6) is seeking to appoint a committed and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their team from November 2025. This is a term-time-only role for the full academic year, ideal for someone with experience in supporting the learning, development and wellbeing of children in the Foundation Stage.
About the Role:
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting Reception-aged children with their early learning, social development and transition into school life. Working under the direction of the class teacher, you will support both group and individual learning across all areas of the EYFS curriculum, helping to create a safe, engaging and enriching classroom environment. This role is perfect for someone who understands the importance of learning through play and can help lay the foundations for a lifelong love of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support children with daily classroom activities, including phonics, early numeracy and play-based learning
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging EYFS activities
- Encourage language development, personal independence and positive behaviour
- Work with small groups or individual children to provide targeted support
- Promote inclusion and help all children feel safe, confident and supported
- Observe and record children’s progress in line with EYFS assessment practices
- Help maintain a calm, stimulating and well-organised learning environment
Essential Requirements:
- A minimum Level 2 Early Years/ Childcare qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience working in an EYFS setting within a UK early years setting
- A solid understanding of the EYFS framework and child development principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A caring, creative and enthusiastic approach to early years education
- The ability to follow routines, but also respond flexibly to individual pupil needs
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children
