Teaching Personnel are seeking a full-time Maths Teacher to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in the Eastleigh area. This is a term-time only position, running Monday to Friday, and is available on a long-term basis with pay to scale.

This role is suited to a resilient, committed, and confident teacher who is able to work with pupils presenting extremely challenging behaviour and complex social, emotional, and mental health needs. Many students will have experienced disrupted education and require a highly structured, consistent, and firm approach.

The Role:

  • Delivering Maths lessons to small groups of secondary-aged pupils
  • Planning and adapting lessons to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Managing and responding to very challenging behaviour, including escalation and de-escalation
  • Establishing clear routines, boundaries, and expectations
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education
  • Working closely with support staff, senior leaders, and external professionals

The Setting:

This PRU provides specialist provision for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education. Behaviour can be unpredictable and demanding, and the role requires emotional resilience, patience, and strong classroom management skills. While the work is challenging, it can also be highly rewarding for the right candidate.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified Maths Teacher (QTS preferred)
  • Confident managing challenging behaviour in a specialist setting
  • PRU, SEMH, alternative provision, or behaviour support experience is desirable
  • Calm, consistent, and able to remain professional under pressure
  • Committed to supporting vulnerable young people to re-engage with learning

Hours & Pay:

  • Full-time: Monday to Friday
  • Term time only
  • Pay to scale for long-term placements
