Location: Southampton

Pay: £14.25 per hour - Term Time Only

Hours: Full Time, 8:00-4:00 (variable start/finish times)

Contract: Ongoing with potential for permanent role

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within a secondary school supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role where you will make a real difference in the lives of young people who require help with emotional regulation, relationship building, and setting boundaries.

The Role

  • Work on a one-to-one and small group basis with pupils who have SEMH needs.
  • Support pupils with managing emotions, behaviour, and developing positive relationships.
  • Assist with adapting learning to meet individual needs.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide a safe and supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults who struggle with emotional regulation and building relationships is essential.
  • Ability to drive is highly desirable.
  • Must have a clear DBS or be willing to apply for one.
  • Ideally, you will have recent safeguarding and child protection training (completed within the last year).
  • Availability between 8:30-16:00 (hours may vary slightly day‑to‑day).
  • Passion, patience, and resilience when working with young people facing emotional challenges.
