SEND Teaching Assistants & LSAs | Eastbourne & Hailsham
Good support starts with getting to know the pupil: what helps them learn, what they find difficult and when they need a different approach.
I'm recruiting Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and 1:1 support staff interested in SEND opportunities around Eastbourne, Hailsham and surrounding areas.
I work with primary and secondary specialist settings, supporting flexible and longer-term placements throughout the 2026/27 academic year.
What could the work involve?
Depending on the setting, you could be:
-
Supporting pupils during lessons and activities
-
Working individually or with small groups
-
Helping pupils communicate their needs
-
Supporting emotional regulation and engagement
-
Encouraging confidence and independence
-
Working closely with teachers and the wider school team
You'll need patience, consistency and the ability to take guidance. Being willing to reflect and adapt is important too.
What experience are we looking for?
Some vacancies require previous SEND experience. Others may suit people coming from mainstream education, care, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring or tutoring.
If you've helped young people overcome barriers, build confidence or manage difficult situations, your experience could be relevant.
Before recruitment, I worked within SEND education myself. We'll talk about your background and the environments that could suit you before considering particular roles.
Pay & practical information
Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from Β£92.60 per day, with access to CPD and professional development.
You'll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don't currently hold one, you'll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I'll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.
We'll also require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.
