SEND Teaching Assistants & Learning Support Assistants | Eastbourne & Surrounding Areas

Sometimes the most useful thing you can bring to a classroom is the ability to help a young person feel understood.

I’m looking for Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and 1:1 support staff interested in SEND work around Eastbourne, Hailsham, Seaford and surrounding areas.

There are flexible and longer-term opportunities across primary and secondary specialist education throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

What could you be doing?

Depending on the setting, you could be:

  • Helping pupils access lessons and classroom activities

  • Providing individual or small-group support

  • Supporting communication and independence

  • Helping pupils regulate and re-engage with learning

  • Working alongside teachers and the wider support team

You’ll need patience, clear boundaries and a willingness to adapt. An approach that works well for one pupil may need changing completely for another.

Does your experience fit?

Previous SEND experience is valuable, and some vacancies require it. Other roles can suit people coming from mainstream schools, care, youth work, coaching, tutoring or mentoring.

Having worked in SEND myself before moving into recruitment, I know how relevant those transferable skills can be.

We’ll discuss what you’ve done, what you enjoy and which environments could suit you. You’ll also have access to CPD and professional development to help build your practice.

Pay & practical information

Teaching Assistant and LSA opportunities are paid from £92.60 per day.

You’ll need an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service. If you don’t currently hold one, you’ll need to apply through us and join the Update Service. I’ll support you through the process, with the associated cost covered by the applicant.

We’ll require your full employment and education history and references covering 24 months of employment in total where possible, prioritising recent and relevant employment.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
