Upcoming maternity cover for a specialist teacher to take on a full-time timetable following the February half term break, starting Monday 2nd March 2026. A good rated secondary school with a very good reputation is looking to take on an English teacher for a maternity cover with possibility of taking on a full teaching contract with the school from February half term, technically through to 29th November 2026.

The school follows the AQA syllabus with the successfully appointed English teacher teaching up to GCSE level. The school are specifically looking for an English specialist who is able to teach Literature and Language. Teachers of all experience levels are highly encouraged to apply including newly qualified teachers or those that are much more experienced with no prejudice over either.

Being situated just outside of the city centre, the school is very easy to access via the Metrolink and regular buses from the city centre and surrounding areas of Tameside, Longsight, Gorton, Droylsden and Levenshulme. Taking on this maternity cover through Teaching Personnel in the first instance will give the successful English teacher the opportunity to take advantage of Teaching Personnel’s CPD academy and personalised service. As this is a year long planned maternity cover, the successful teacher would progress onto a school based contract after a period of approximately 12 – 15 weeks.

Any English specialists who are due to be available during the Spring term, having completed their secondary PGCE are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration with their most up to date CV. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
