Teaching Personnel is currently working with an inclusive, inviting and family-orientated school seeking a dedicated and friendly individual to provide support to a pupil with Downs Syndrome in Year 3. This will be a fulfilling opportunity to make a real impact in the child’s educational and social journey while developing your own skills.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Providing daily support to a Year 3 pupil with Downs Syndrome on a 1:1 basis.
- Implementing appropriate tailored strategies that will support focus and behaviour management in and out of the classroom.
- Assisting the class teacher with any lesson delivery.
- Encouraging positive social and emotional interactions for the child.
- Liaising with the SENCO, child’s parents, and any other external agencies involved.
- Reflecting on your own practice and putting together clear action plans where improvement may be required.

What we are looking for:
- Experience working as a 1:1 support worker or teaching assistant within a school or EYFS setting.
- Experience of working with children with Downs syndrome or additional needs.
- Enhanced DBS which is on the update service (or willing to apply for one).
- Ability to take an understanding, proactive, and flexible approach when supporting the child.
- Willingness to complete additional CPD Training to develop your skills.
- Level 2 or 3 Childcare Qualification (Desirable).
